I live with my family amongst the trees and bees of the Connecticut-Rhode Island boarder.
I previously lived in New York City where I worked on the digital side of journalism and publishing, and taught at both Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and its School of International and Public Affairs.
Along the way I won an Emmy in advanced media.
I'm a father of two, husband of one, son of (now) one, and sibling of three.
I went to school in New York City and apart from a stint as a newspaper editor and journalism trainer in Saudi Arabia, lived there for over 25 years.
My wife and I had our second child in Rhode Island near where I grew up. We thought we'd a stay for two months before returning to New York. Covid had other plans and six years later we're still settling in. The details of that story is here.
Professionally, I've worked at the intersection of media and technology. At the beginning of my career that was straight print journalism. I then learned to code and use audio, video, and design applications. This opened a different world of possibilities to me. Others I knew learned similarly and collectively we became publishers of one sort or another.
I've always been a storytelling creature. Now, I didn't have to wait for a pitch to be accepted. I could just go create the story. Better, I had the tools and wherewithal to build community around it. You can learn about my work here.
Insofar as parents with young kids have or don't have free time, here's what I do with mine: I'm writing two books, one for adults and one for children. The first is a collection of essays on ecology, technology, and culture. The second is an illustrated adventure story of two kids who get lost in space and crash land on earth.
I also spend as much time as I can in my garden. It's never enough. The weeds grow faster than I can get to them. If they were cash crops, we'd be rich. It's a lovely activity to share with my kids though and I delight in watching them forage for strawberries I've placed around flower beds.
Books, retreats and my studio.

I work with organizations on the editorial they create, the communications they delivery, and the systems and platforms required to better interact with target audiences.

My kids inspire. So too the likes of Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I'm writing and illustrating a space adventure of my kids. It starts light years away and ends here on Earth.

I'm working on an essay collection focusing on Ecology, Technology, and Culture. It's written through the lens of raising two kids, and having increasingly dependent parents. You can read a sample here.

I've been working on 30-acres of woodlands along the Connecticut-Rhode Island border to transform it into a retreat that hosts music and storytelling workshops, food experiences, and camps for kids.
